Big Fat Repack 2010

Last year's Big Fat Repack was another success, this years will be held on Sunday, March 28, 2010 at the Rivermead Leisure Complex, Reading.
BHPA's Bill Morris will be there again with his excellent team of experienced repackers. There will be BHPA qualified packers on hand offering further help for anyone still not confident in their own packing ability so everyone should leave with their 'chute repacked.
Bob Nugent (or one of his team) will be running his hands on first aid demonstrations showing you how to deal with broken bones, spinal and head injuries.
How much does it cost? Only £26.00 which is less than the cost of a professional repack. TVHGC members can book at a discounted rate £23.00.
Numbers are strictly limited to 140. Queries should be emailed to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

Uffington Agreement Signed

At last we have a formal agreement with the National Trust to fly Uffington White Horse. It is a sensitive site and we do not want to upset them - especially at the outset - and it can get very busy on summer weekends. Read the sites guide, and be aware:-
* it is closed to us on Bank Holidays and weekends during the school summer holidays (dates to be advised later). Go to Combe Gibbet instead!
* pilot rating required. Emphatically no red ribbons
* obey the car parking rules - and pay!
* paragliders only :-( Maybe hang gliders later, but only PGs while they get used to us. It is a long carry-up anyway
Maybe I have forgotten something, but read the sites guide!

Sites

The club offers a good range of safe ridge soaring sites for novices and some of the best XC sites in the south of England. However, almost all the sites are sensitive and have particular rules associated with them that must be observed by pilots visiting. Whether you are a new CP pilot just starting out or an experienced XC hound please respect the site rules - latest updates can be found here. If you aren't a reciprocal member or wish to fly one of our members only sites please join the club, it costs £28 per year and if you are a new member and join after September your membership subscription will last for a year to the following March. If you have any questions, queries or concerns contact the committee or post a message in our club forum where you will find members happy to help.

Social

Every first Wednesday of the month you'll find us there, wittering about flying, flying and more flying. The club is very friendly and we do our best to welcome new pilots of any ability. Joining the club will make arriving at new sites less daunting and mean that you will probably do more flying.

Club Email Forum

The club forum is a great place to find out information on when and where pilots are going and when. On it you will find advise and information on just about anything flying related. There are regular updates on the weather, the best new weather sites, holiday ideas, kit and the usual cacophany of flying related chat. If you have questions, we'd rather know...
