This year we entered a team in the early rounds of the British Club Challenge (BCC) http://www.flybcc.co.uk/ The aim of the competition was to get inexperienced pilots out and away from their familiar hills, to expand their comfort bubbles and to experience the adrenaline surge that comes from taking part in a competition.
Safety was always maintained by comprehensive briefings and careful team selection as well as invaluable guidance from Richard Bungay and Lee Bligh. Twelve club members took part and flew rounds from various hills in SE Wales. Needless to say, we had a great time, both on the hill and rehydrating afterwards! Many personal bests and first XCs were flown, with every pilot getting away from the hill when conditions allowed. Such was our success, helped ever so slightly by Richard Bungay virtually flying a lap of the UK from the Blorenge, that at one point the TVHGC team was placed 3rd out of 16 teams and our final placing was 7th. Well done, team!
