| Comments | :: | Just Grant and myself out on HG's today, although I think I saw Tim Guildford heading the other way as I passed through Malborough at about 12 o'clock. Wind was SSW and the the rain stopped about 1pm. Just enough west in the wind to take off by the cattle trough on the main Milk face, climb a bit in the gulley, then scoot out along the south face. Grant took off first and soon jumped forward onto the white horse face. I took a climb to 400ft above the cars then cut across the back of the bowl to meet him there. Plenty of lift to explore with. Grant made the most of it, by heading down the ridge past Golden Ball, then back and across to Rybury. I chased him around with camera in hand. Had a final punt out forward to Stanton St Bernard under an approaching shower cloud then ran back to the hill before we got too wet.. Not bad at all for February. |

| Comments | :: | With strong winds forecast all morning and mid day, late in the day there looked like a small chance. Mike Long and myself arrived on the track up to Milk to find some activity on Rybury with two above take off and with some wind across the track it looked promising :-) we headed on up to Milk..... only to find just as we arrived at 4pm the wind stopped completely (nil). Not to waste the trip, having the hill to ourselves and some evening sun, Alpine launches were the order of the evening... good fun was had in the end. |

| Comments | :: | Nice sunny day on Rybury, very light wind so not much soaring. Some light thermal activity coming through allowing very short beats of the hill around lunch time. Later in the day the winds picked up no more than 1-2mph allowing a few more. Nice company with 7-8 other hopeful TVHGC members. |

| Comments | :: | A lovely afternoon on Combe if a bit strong on take off, plenty of lift and the sky to myself for about a hour. Thanks to Lee and Fi for a short go on the little cloud 18m speed wing, would love another try in a little more wind. Lets hope for many more days on combe like that one. |

| Comments | :: | Forecast was optimistic but the wind was disappointingly strong most of the day for most people, except for a couple of courageous ones plus Lee on the mad little speedwing, then the sacrificial lambs left at 3.30 and it became flyable for all, though pretty chilly. Some punchy thermals are already around and loads of lift everywhere, all the way forward to the wood. We counted 11 current or ex RAF, a whole bunch of Cloudbase groupies and half of Muppet Squadron (welcome back Gav!) as well as lots of other keen TV members so socially it was plenty of fun while we waited and finally there was a fabulous sunset - see pics at the end of the album courtesy of Chris. |

| Comments | :: | Got to the front - no-one there. Wind up the hill - check. Not howling - check. Blue skies and puffy CUs - check. Wierd! Gorgeous Cus kept drifting over, but it didnt seem to translate to usable thermals, but thats maybe expecting a bit much in Feb. Slightly NNW at times, so only the right hand side worked properly. V nice first 2010 outing anyway. The downers - No discernable heating from my stupid electric gloves; and dog poo just everywhere. What is it with Avon sites and dogs? Reason enough to stick to TVHGC sites! |

| Comments | :: | SO WHAT WAS IT LIKE: Cold!! Top end northerly until 4 ish when it went light and then picked up again an hour later! But flyable most of the day. WHO WAS THERE: On arrival we found Richard Bungay and Mick Wooldridge flying. Alan, Mick's son had been flying his hang glider but had landed to warm up. Wayne( Air Atos VR, was there but flew is model glider). Mike Long arrived mid afternoon and had some reasonable soaring. CONCLUSION: Ridge soaring with occasional very weak thermals which aloud upwind excursions. |

| Comments | :: | Had a nice time soaring around Combe today. Fairly strong on the ground but in the air consistant with some punchy thermals at times, other times nice and smooth. Compression felt fairly strong so stayed well out front. Picked up some lift from above the wooded circle out in the front field. Slope landed half way down just to be safe. Still adjusting my pod but really enjoying the overall feel, had a few comments about it being the wrong angle but as far as I could tell hanging around 10 degrees, might have slipped a little recently. Ah well....roll on spring. |

| Comments | :: | Spoke with Kay and Paul earlier on and they convinced me that Combe wouldn't be the best site today and I'm glad I listened. Got to Westbury at about 12.30 to find not a soul there. I was worried that perhaps there had been an exclusion put around the site, but checked and nothing mentioned anywhere so got up in the air sharpish. The wind started off a little to the East but gradually moved into the North as the day progressed. Quite strong but never blown out, had the site to ourselves until 4.00pm when two other pilots joined us. Excitement of the day was had when a motorised sail plane buzzed the ridge about 50' above the ridge and 50' below us! A cracking day! |

| Comments | :: | Great afternoons flying. Visibility could have been better, but lift was surprisingly good! Richard Bungay stayed above most of us, most of the time but we cruised over the road and explored the lift on the front of Walbury Hill a couple of times. Wind speed okay and northerly but always with an element of east in it. Nice to be flying combe again. About 6 to 8 pilots on hill. |

| Comments | :: | Nice but still chilly afternoon on Dunstable, my 6th day flying this year so it's a good start at least:-) A little more sun and wind would have been nice but the suns getting higher every day now so it's heading the right way. |

| Comments | :: | A lovely time was had by all on Chinnor ridge although it was bloody cold, gave Marta a lovely tandem flight along the ridge so she got to see all the posh houses in the woods, even top landed the tandem which I am chuffed about as there's not a lot of room at Chinnor to do this. Gave Julian a short tandem flight and then helped Rob Ginger on his way to his tandem rating by been the willing idiot on the front, top marks for his first tandem flight as pilot. |
