Comments :: Arrived at 11.00 to a beautiful day and a very light easterly. By 1.00 it was flyable and we all got in the air to get some much needed air time! Brian and Richard were up on the tandem and Dan seemed to get some good flying in on his hangie whilst expertly dodging the floppies and I think a good day was had by all. As always seems to happen, the easterly got stronger and by 3.00 I felt the air was getting lumpy and following a small collapse, called it a day. Richard and Brian however flew till it was almost dark! Lets hope this is the portent of a good flying year to come!

Comments :: Porterville 'Winelands' SA Nationals. Crazy South Easter gales for the first 3 days severely tests my normally sunny disposition. I bleat how stupid it is for a site to be so close to Langebaan, the kitesurfing mecca. From day 4 it was taskable, with the long ridge highly unpleasant, with the South winds rotoring along it, but just dreamy away from it - sort of like epic UK days, every day. I did better with legs into the moderate winds over the flats out front, but the scenery of the Cederberg when we went over the back was awesome. My usual plodding style of getting to goal slowly, but reliably, paid dividends and I scooped some goodies for 2nd place Sport class (cruelly deprived of 1st by some racing snake on the last day. Must speed up somehow). Nice comp and very nice people.

Comments :: Nice looking day but could not get up the track to Milk. Nobody else was visible on the hill, so I decided not to carry the HG up from the bottom. - Must get my 4X4 back on the road! Took some photo's of the white horse instead, as it looked pretty in the snow. Spherical panorama at the link below can be viewed with Quicktime. Once open, you can look around by left clicking, then hold and drag with mouse. Zoom in and out using 'Ctrl' and shift keys, or the +/- buttons below the image. - Enjoy!

Comments :: A windy day but the forecast showed a hint of potential late on so I went dog walking from Milk and on the way back noticed it was settling, though still very strong and smooth. Just a few precious minutes at 4pm in a stunning clear sky and sunset with indescribably beautiful views in all directions.

Comments :: Lovely day, chilly - brrrrrrr. Snowflakes stopped play at the end of the day. Lots of courtesy as the lift band was quite small and people were kindly making sure everyone had a go. Nice.

Comments :: Beautiful, crisp, sunny winters day. We arrived about noon to find a light westerly and nobody else around, although several pilots were flying at Milk. After soaring for an hour we landed to warm up and have some hot soup. As we prepared to fly again other pilots arrived. First Ken, then Nigel, both of whom got some airtime in the decreasing wind. By the time James got on site the wind had, unfortunately, backed to SSW and decreased further!Snow flakes accompanied our departure at 4pm.

Comments :: Arrived to find one one else there other than a few modellers, it didn't seem that strong on take off but once in the air a few big gusts rolled though with some turbulence, I tested the speed bar and it instantly failed so landed to reattach which was just as well as I used all of it shortly afterwards! After 40 mins or so of which some of it involved using full bar and at least one time not even going forward then I decided it wasn't that nice anymore and called it a day. Still nice to get in the air again after about 7 weeks of crap weather!

Comments::Arrived at the bottom of Milk Hill track to view several gliders parawaiting. Had a bite to eat. The wind had backed to a more southerly flow so drove to Golden Ball. Waited for twenty mins for wind to increase to groundhandle. Soon joined by six others. The wind blew a bit more which allowed us to "share" the ridge, mainly one at a time, until the threat of rain and darkness meant it was time to go home.......

Comments :: After a fearsome spell of weather we ventured out to GB first, then Tan as there was a fair bit of east in the wind. Not epic, but Lee taught us fence jumping and it was good to dust off the cobwebs. Lee & I headed back up to GB with the Little Cloud mini wing (18m) and met Mike on his way down, but the wind had really picked up and 40mph was a bit above the limits!
