Comments :: lovely afternoon playing in the traffic and grabbing the gentle thermals as they went by. the last thermal i thought might take me away was actually quite feisty but short-lived. a couple of near-incidents and some shouty-ness but everyone seemed to have fun. :-D

Comments :: BP cup task. Early start by cup standards (window opened at 10:45). Completely overcast with a low base yet almost everybody climbed out. Got to base and managed a mighty 5.1km, the task winner did 15k. Nice to get to base on a day that I thought wouldn't work.

Comments :: A brilliant week in Olu Deniz with Roy 'Sparky' Clarke and Andy Edwards from TVHGC on one of Russ Ogden's 'Control (SIV) Courses'. Flyable weather on 5 of the 7 days. 1 day lost due to strong winds (went quad biking instead), and one day due to low clouds at t/o after a rainy night. We all managed to get our SIV tasks done successfully, although I have to admit that full stalls are not exactly my favourite manouvre. I had a 'moment' when my glider went into an uncommanded cravatted spriral dive which was not particularly nice and Andy nearly ended up in his wing after losing pressure when a wing-over went a bit wrong. No injuries and no reserve deployments by anyone on our course. Lots of Acro nutters to watch. A good time was had by all. What a fantastic site, it's just the long haul up the mountain which gets to be a bit of a bind by the end of the week. Recommended!

Comments :: Went to Pandy with camera for a walk and to reminisce about my first flight there earlier this year.If only the site had been open as conditions were good! Then went to Blorenge where I met another pilot at the car park. Flew for about 20 mins.... even an eagle that was being flown there couldn't stay up! Should have got there earlier.

Comments :: Four of us (three LATs and Neil, who took pity on us) took the trek to S. Wales and were v. glad of it. Good flying had for most of the day with some bumpy but mostly smooth and bouyant conditions. Nice way for us to build up some airtime.

Fantastic as Al said considering the conditions an epic flight.

Comments :: A rather disappointing day after the mega heights of yesterday - a patch of cirrus slowed down heating and the clouds didn't pop until 3pm. Windy without much lift at the hill, no climbs going above 2k' asl. Several of us dribbled over the back during the afternoon anyway, ending up at various points on the way to Hereford, with the exception of Bryan Regan who caught the sweet spot of the day and made it to Brecon - a remarkable flight given the conditions.

Comments :: Nice warm day, wind a little off to the North but very flyable if a little strong on take off. I did my worst take off on the Tandem ever but got away with it, got almost to base after a while and thought it would be rude not to go over the back despite no GPS or almost anything else! Landed after about 21k as didn't want to go further with out been certain where I was, Marta's first XC flight and my first one on the tandem, base was over 6K. A very nice day:-)

Comments :: Drove all the way from London to Wales with brother Ben - realised Pandy was closed upon arrival! Went to Blorenge and got an hour or so of thermic action before landing near the twin aerials and driving back to London. A long day but beats sitting at work but a long way to go. Fresh air and only 2 other pilots there.

Comments :: A handful of Thames folk enjoying the Sky surfers' hospitality for an afternoon soaring in gentle lift. A bit northerly in the morning, coming round to east and finally sea breeze kicked in from S around 5 killing all action. Usual heady mix of of modellers, PGs and HGs filling the sky. Good to see Mike Shippam back in the air after his recent collision with the hill. Personally, a bit of a come down to be back in UK conditions from flying Annecy last week (bumped into reech @ doussard!)... 0.5 up rather than 9 up on the vario and instead of getting to cloudbase at 7000ft, today got to the majestic height of 131ft ATO -as high as the communications aerial on the hill!

Comments :: Arrived about midday with Mick Wooldridge. Seemed a little windy , but smack on. After half an hour some dark clouds driffted in and we spent the next hour getting very wet! After drying off, the sun came out again, but the wind had veered to the west! Back at the car park we found the wind northerly! So off to Combe. At the Gibbit the wind was on the hill but too light to soar. I had a top to bottom and we went home about 6 ish as the breeze came over the back. On the A4 the weather vane was pointing east! Nice day though.
