Comments :: Wind was on the sporty side but once away from launch (by 4pm) the conditions were silky smooth but strong enough to make for an easy run along the entire ridge. Vis was pretty poor and the wind increased after a couple of hours, making landing a back at the lower takeoff awkward with most pilots electing to land on the track between the lower and upper TO, which was in the lee of the by now NE wind (worth remembering).

Comments :: Got to site about one o'clock and the place was crowded. Half a dozen HG's a dozen or so Model aircraft and about 30 PG's. Not much to keep us up at first only light thermals coming through but worth the wait as about 4pm it became very boyant and quite a few that stayed took to the air. left site about about 5pm with just about everybody else.

Comments :: Saw several gliders struggling a bit on normal Milk, so decided to go to White Horse. Wind initially quite strong but got up ok and spent about an hour boating about with 3 or 4 others. Nothing very epic, but nice all the same. Called it a day when wind went too far SW off the hill. Couldn't be arsed with going to normal Milk!

Comments :: Myself and 5 others taking the opportunity for some evening wafty around flying. No more than 600 ft ATO but after yesterday with unable to keep straight and level flight for more than 3 secs it was most welcome. Oh yes twas lovely to fly in the company of the resident red kites, they seem to be very comfortable in our presence with one passing in front of me by no more than 10 feet.

Comments :: In a word, epic. Nasty, rough, inconsistent and very overcrowded on the hill, but lovely skies behind it. A new British declared goal record for Adrian T, flying 118km to Lewes, and UK PB's for various pilots (+-65k for Jon Collie and me, 52k for Kirsty). Several made the coast. TVHGC now leads the club ranking in the XC league!

Comments :: An excellent forecast but an unimpressive day. Rough and windy on the hill, and a strong inversion at 3000' which neither thermal nor paraglider could penetrate. 3 of us dribbled along for 15-20km, everyone else gave up and and went home.

Comments :: Red Kites were out in force, I counted 5 in the air at one point. Lots of synchronised acro and mock-fighting with each other, and they showed no fear in the thermals - I must have been 5ft away from one at one stage. Absolutely stunning. Oh, and the flying was good fun too - shame about the ceiling at 2000ft or so.

Comments :: had to write this one up. What a great day at CG. There was an inversion at 500' and take off was a bit gusty but do-able I was bouncing off the inversion ceiling for about 5 hours. The site was busy but not crowded. and as one group left the after work brigade started to arrive. It was very boyant all day. Hope you guys get a good one Tuesday. Mike S

Comments :: Surprisingly pleasant day on the Malverns, thermals started coming through around 12.30, tried for a triangle but the wind was too strong. Gave up and went over the back with four others, alternately scratched and cruised along to near Monmouth. Tim G made it past Abergavenny, getting rather wet in the clouds :)

Comments :: A splendid and very pleasant day on Malvern in the company of Ian Pepper and Simon ? alongside 20 other flyers. We arrived at 1pm and rigged frantically as a gaggle were already at cloudbase and on the way to their desination Abergavenny ! Not many more climbs to cloudbase so most were content stooging around at up to 1000ft ATO up until at least 7pm and beyond. The wind was well off to the NE to NNE at times and so it made any climb out challenging but rewarding when stuck at it. Good skills by Simon for retrieving those that went to Aber, hope they at least bought you a hearty meal for your efforts Simon !

Comments :: Got to the hill (1st time there) not long after midday. 2 got away while i was kitting-up (Bryan got 14km?), then no-one else did. soft thermals coming and going until half 5 when the wind picked up and the last, big, thermal came through. left site at half 6 when the lift had lightened again but one or two pg and a hg were still soaring. lovely afternoon and a nice site. :-)

Comments :: Saturday at Mam Tor, Peak Distict. VERY BUSY. Good cycles, good height gains, until 3pm. Then we had pilots taking off from north-west face and southerly TO! Arrived at Bradwell Edge about 5.30 pm. Only one flyer there, packing up! Had scratch around in light harness as two pilots turned up. We found weak thermals and flew full length of ridge. Then at 6.30 we connected with Wave and climbed to 2000ft. ato. the world was our lobster as we maintained thia altitude and flew a mile or so upwind. Eventually landed back at our cars at 8pm with wave lift still good but very cold!! Local club have 10 day membership for only a fiver.

Comments :: East Face flyable with good thermal cycles till 3pm. Then south take off AND north west take off used! Arrived at Bradwell Edge about 5.30pm. Light west/northwest blowing. Scratched aroundfor half an hour then weak thermals to 300ft ato. It got better and better as we( only three of us by this time) got to fly pass gliding club to end of very long ridge in 12 mph westerly. Then down to just two flying we connected with Wave and eventually landed back at our cars at 8pm! The wave took us up to 2000 ft ato and you could fly whole ridge and about a mile upwind! Magic!!!

Date :: 08 / 04 / 2007
Direction :: South West
Comments :: Pleasant light day at Milk, thermals blowing through with 'Battle of Britain' style mass takeoff. Not much meteo wind on the hill for soaring, just enough to kite. About eight of us all told which made for plenty of space (for everyone to dodge my novice flying). Very pleasant day out - mentions to Ian P and Gordon for their advice and help, and the others whose names I've forgot! Although it looked promising at one stage nobody managed to escape the hill. Ian probably got an hour plus of airtime, and the rest of us proportionately less.
