Guests & Non Members

Members of Thames Valley Hang Gliding Club are welcome to bring guests
to our sites.  Please note that guests are currently not allowed to use the new “Milk Hill – White Horse” site.  It is expected that guests will normally live outside the Thames Valley area.  The TVHGC member is personally responsible to ensure that the guest is aware of and obeys the site rules, and is a current member of BHPA.

On Combe Gibbet and Milk Hill we are obliged by our agreement with the land owners, to restrict flying to club members. To achieve Guest Membership status, visitors (or preferably their TVHGC host) are required to contact a Committee member before flying. A phone call will suffice, but not a message left on an answerphone. Guests here are still expected to be accompanied by a TVHGC full member who will be responsible for their behaviour.

As these sites are expensive it is hoped that guests will not abuse guest status; if they fly repeatedly (say 4 times a year) they really ought to become full members.

Visiting foreign pilots (i.e. pilots that are not members of the BHPA) who are staying for up to one month are required to have an IPPI card with at least a stage 3 for paragliding or stage 2 for hang gliding and confirmation of not less than two million pounds third party liability insurance. For visits longer than one month foreign pilots are required to join the BHPA. A member of the committee must verify the required documentation before agreeing to the visiting foreign pilot flying at a TVHGC site.  Please note that that as guests, visiting Foreign pilots are also currently not allowed to use the new “Milk Hill – White Horse” site.
