Thames Valley Pilots excel at South African Pre Paragliding World Cup |

Simon Twiss & Colin Hawke took top honours at this years Winelands Open in Porterville, South Africa. Colin Hawke, flying a serial class Gin GTO, finished in 15th place overall (ahead of many open class gliders) taking 1st place in the serial class. Simon Twiss, flying a sports class Nova Factor, finished 26th overall scooping 3rd in the serial class and 1st in the sports class. Well done to you both. |

BCC 2010 |

This year we entered a team in the early rounds of the British Club Challenge (BCC) http://www.flybcc.co.uk/ The aim of the competition was to get inexperienced pilots out and away from their familiar hills, to expand their comfort bubbles and to experience the adrenaline surge that comes from taking part in a competition. |

New British records |

We are proud to announce that Richard Bungay (our Chief Coach) at Combe Gibbet on 8th of August 2010 achieved a new British record for Distance around a Triangular Course of 39.5km.
Also Tim Guilford and Simon Headford set a new Tandem Declared Goal record of 51.0km with a 2hr 19min flight from Combe Gibbet on their Gradient Bi-Golden. No previous record had been recorded in this category
Congratulations to them all it's a great achievement and a new level set for us to aspire to achieve. |

Red Bull XAlps 2011 |

The Red Bull XAl ps 2011 Athletes are announced for next year's race which commences in July 17th. Athletes race non-stop through the Alps to the Mediterranean Sea, with just a paraglider and a pair of hiking boots to help them, their every move tracked by advanced technology and broadcasted to an audience of millions. The 2011 race begins in Salzburg, Austria and finishes in Monaco. In between are eight turnpoints in Austria, Italy, Switzerland and France that force the participants through 864km of treacherous mountain terrain. Thirty of the world’s best endurance athletes and paragliding pilots, specially selected for their skills, stamina and guts. They can Fly. Hike. Conquer. The athletes can either fly with their paraglider or hike, carrying their equipment with them. The race goes on day and night, sun or snow, until the first pilot reaches goal. Motorised transport but can select a supporter to help supply food, equipment and information. |
