This is the powerpoint presentation on Meteorology that I gave at the club meeting in February;

Here are Graham Taylor's three sets of notes for the Pilot Exam and Advanced Pilot Airlaw notes (these are also applicable to P exam and are more up to date than the Airlaw section):

Hi All

For those of you who don't know me or weren't at the AGM (shame on you) Ihad the dubious pleasure of being voted in as Chief Coach.

I have several ideas for 2008 to help all the low airtime pilots over those first few hours of soaring and then all the way on to taking your Pilot or AP exams.

Firstly, I hope to put out a weather bulletin for the weekends to give you an idea of if it's on and then where to go. I will always put this out with a subject line of 'LAT weather' so if you don't want this filling your inbox then you can set up an auto delete. (Oh, and don't even think about this weekend, 747 pilots are having doubts about flying!).

Fi has already suggested a coastal soaring session for LATs so we will try and make this a full on coaching day.

Site tours, we will be running several site tours over the year, we will try and get a couple in over the early part of the year before the season kicks off so all the new members get to know the sites early and then another one or two over the summer for late arrivals to the season.

Over the winter months we will arrange some lectures on Met, Airlaw/Maps and theory of flight aimed both at P and AP exams and general interest. If there is anyone that wants to sit exams just let me know, we will arrange a club
exam evening just before the start of the season.

We will also run several coaching days over the year but remember the coaches are there all the year round and they are mostly a friendly bunch who are more than willing to give you some help.

Later on in the year we will try and arrange an XC coaching day/Combe Fun day again but this will be rather weather dependent!

And don't forget there are lots of oportunities for smooth soaring conditions over the winter, even if it is a bit cold, to keep your hand in or build up your hours before things start to get a bit sparky again in the spring.

Cheers for now

Richard
